The Beatles Walk
London

When I was in London on early March '97 I've found out that a company promotes walks around the city – it's called London Walks; one of them is called "A day in the life" (there's another one, "Magical Mystery Tour"). The guide for the walks is Richard Porter, an extremely nice and knowledgeable man (check out his website www.beatlesnews.com). Any tourist bureau has the leaflets with dates and prices, the walks last about 2 hours and is one of the most interesting things to do when in London!

Places of interest
The pic below shows Boston Road, where the Beatles ran away from the fans in the movie; the street is just by Marylebone station. Some curious facts: George actually hurt himself when he fell on the street! The fans were NOT paid actors, they were real fans who knew about the shooting and actually wanted to take a glance on the Beatles! The director and the producers liked it, so they didn't have to pay for actors! They used to say that the fans knew about the locations even before than the Beatles themselves!

The EMI building, where the pics for the two collection albuns (red and blue) were taken, right there at the first floor. The EMI company is no longer located on this building since 1997, so it's empty now... Just opposite there's a beautiful square, filled with flowers that was used for some photo sessions

Marylebone station has changed a lot in the last 30 years... Unfortunally the phone booths that the Beatles used no longer exist, the stores inside are not the same. The scene when they jump off of the subway actually was not filmed here, as it was very early and the station was closed. Paul McCartney did not have to run from the fans... while the other three were filming, he was just seated at one of the station chairs, with a fake beard, sunglasses and a newspaper, and no one recognized him!

Houses
34 Montagu Sq., a house that was owned once by Ringo. Also lived here some well know people, as Jimmy Hendrix. When John and Yoko were just married, they were here for a while until they found a bigger house. And more, the picture for "Two Virgins" album (the one with John and Yoko naked) was taken here

57 Wimpole St., the Ashers house, where Paul lived with Jane Asher for 4 years, in the early 60's. It was in the basement that Paul and John played and composed a lot of famous songs (like I Want To Hold Your Hand, Yesterday etc.). Mr. Asher had to change the phone number nearly every month, as soon as the fans discovered it! The street was always crowded with girls (and boys too) waiting for Paul, or any of the band, to go in/out. It was a relief for the Ashers when Paul and Jane decide to move. Nowadays Jane owns a famous fancy cakes shop.
